Help your child deepen their understanding

PoP-O Books provides an engaging way to prepare for Reading Comprehension in NAPLAN

Reading is a fundamental skill that is a platform to all learning.

Our quality learning materials have been designed to up-skill parents in asking the right questions to develop and deepen the reader's level of comprehension by explicitly teaching them how to analyse text.

Your child does not have to love reading to succeed in it. If you provide a toolbox of strategies in analysing text, and teach them how to identify key information to be pulled apart, analysed and synthesised they will be equipped with the right toolset to make Reading Comprehension a breeze.

Consistency and repetition is the key to learning new skills. You will see that each of the stories asks a similar series of questions. The questions have been researched and linked to the Australian Curriculum, which in turn is what is assessed in NAPLAN.

Note from Author

As a teacher, I would often be asked the same question by panicked parents around NAPLAN time…

“My child reads so well, why are they not achieving better results?”

The main reason? We need a renewed focus on helping children learn about WHAT they are reading and not just HOW to read. That’s why PoP-O Books is all about deepening understanding.

Each book and question guide in the series focuses on the analysis and not the actual reading (decoding) of the story.

The texts are designed to be read over a period of time, allowing for approximately 15 minutes of guided discussion each night.

Being prepared for NAPLAN is just a bonus. Give your child the ability to learn how to deepen their comprehension so that they can apply these skills to any text, in any subject area. Our quality learning materials will ensure there is no last minute dash to cram in as many practise questions as possible… your children will benefit from using PoP-O Books and so will you.
